Business Mentors

We have been delivering the Government’s New Enterprise Allowance (NEA) scheme in Cornwall since it began. Through the scheme, jobseekers work with a Business Adviser from PCDT as well as a volunteer Business Mentor to create their business plan. As soon as this has been approved, the budding entrepreneurs can start trading and they still have access to financial support for the first six months whilst they find their feet. Business Mentors provide a valuable source of support and advice throughout the whole process, helping people unlock and develop their business ideas.

How to get involved

We are looking for friendly, committed business people, who can give a small amount of time to support people to begin their journey to self-employment. This very rewarding role will also make a huge difference to our local economy.

You will have ideally run your own business or have considerable business experience; you will be enthusiastic, concerned, responsible and patient.

A Mentoring or Coaching qualification would be an advantage but is not essential.
